Hon'ble Chief Justice R.C. Lahoti

    Lahoti, Ramesh Chandra, B.Com. LL.B. -- Born on 1.11.1940. Joined the Bar in District Guna in 1960 and enrolled as an Advocate in 1962. In April, 1977, recruited directly from the Bar to the State Higher Judicial Service and was appointed as a District & Sessions Judge. After functioning as a District & Sessions Judge for a year, resigned in May 1978 and reverted to the Bar for practice mainly in the High Court.

    Appointed Additional Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 3.5.1988 and permanent Judge from 4.8.1989. Transferred to Delhi High Court on 7.2.1994.

    Headed Court of Inquiry on Mid-Air Collision (on 12.11.96) between Saudi Arabian Boeing 747 and Kazakhstan IL-76 at Charkhi Dadri (near Delhi).

    Appointed Judge, Supreme Court of India on 9.12.1998. Appointed as Chief Justice of Supreme Court Of India on 01-06-2004 (Forenoon). Due to retire on 1.11.2005.
